“I’m marrying a beautiful woman that I love, and her last name’s sounds a hell lot better than mine. Stu Trent has a nice ring to it!” The man who wants to be named Trent was inspired to go through the process of having his last name legally changed by the L.A. County records bureau after reading about the saga of Mike Buday, who wanted to take his fiancé’s last name of Bijon as his own for reasons different than Fuchs’. The man who wants to be named Bijon sued the state after going through an arduous process that included filing a court petition, paying $320, and posting a public notice before getting the coveted name change.
“My lawyer told me to wait until [Buday’s] case gets resolved. That way, it won’t cost me as much,” admitted Fuchs. “I don’t care that people make fun of me, because I share Janet’s last name.” Besides, any names that they use to insult him can’t be any worse than what they already call him.
