Thousands of Words Saying, “Dubya, My Best Friend!”

Long Beach, CA- A couple of months ago, California Democrats on behalf of their gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides unleashed a campaign spot that asked, “Arnold Schwarzenegger is for George W. Bush. Is he for you?” It featured edited footage of Governor Schwarzenegger grandstanding enthusiastically for President Bush in Ohio during the latter’s re-election campaign. It included a catchphrase that often came back to Schwarzenegger shouting out in his recognizable Austrian accent, “GEORGE W. BUSH!” Never mind the fact that the only thing that both Bush and Schwarzenegger have in common is that, nominally, they’re both Republicans.

The spot itself did little to boost Angelides’ poll numbers with less than a week left before Election Day, but some local college students found a new way to bash a president whose popularity has dwindled because of the war in Iraq.

“Dude, I’m always making little pics of my friends kickin’ it with [Bush]. They were so pissed when they saw them, but they think they’re funny now,” said Long Beach City College student Wesley Winnette, who displayed a series of photos showing Bush playing poker, taking a bong hit, hacking a computer, and racing a customized Honda with some of Winnette’s friends.

“Yeah, we all don’t like Bush, man. So we thought that the best way to make fun of each other is to make those pictures,” said Albert Nunez, who helped Winnette make the pictures with the help of Internet images of the President and the computer program Photo Shop. “We could’ve made them dirtier and fixed [it] so that [our friends] would be doing stuff on them like giving [fellatio] to [President Bush]. But by keeping them clean, we can be more creative and show them around campus!” The duo plans to make more “Bushwacked” photos and distribute them to their friends and family as holiday gag gifts.

Yo, man. You want one,” offered Nunez. “If you give us a pic, we could make it look like you and ‘Bushy’ buying a Lotto ticket from an Arab dude at the liquor store!” I told him and Winnette that I would get back to them- with my editor’s picture!

[EDITOR’S NOTE: Personally, I would love to have a photograph of me high fiving President Bush in front of the White House. Why wouldn’t I? I voted for him twice after all, Moe! Too bad we personally don’t know anyone who doctors photos like that for kicks. If you need it spelled out for you, this article’s been doctored too.]
